You're right, in that case, I could do as you described. It was perhaps not the best example.
Consider this example....
I have these databases:
- POS Items
- Inventory
- Cocktail Recipes
I have link to entry fields in the POS Items database for the other two database. So, I have these two fields:
- link to Inventory
- link to cocktail recipes
And then, using JavaScript, I determine which is filled in and pull the data I need from that link (cost for example).
If I could select the database at the time of entry, I could consolidate those two link to entry fields into one and simplify the JavaScript needed to get the data I want.
