Change the shape of thumbnails in a library

Now we have only the square thumbnail view and this usually cuts part of the main image. A rectangular shape would be a good addition (not removing the sqare).
I'm aware that changing this would also affect the visibility of the description field when viewing a library but this isn't a bad thing.

    Sometimes records in the library are identified primarily by their pictures (like animals in my situation) and it would be very useful to have a large thumbnail. Perhaps either the thumbnail size could be customized or, if this causes UI problems, then a selection of predefined sizes.
