Sorting by DISTINCT field values ...
I have a few comments/questions.
1) I belong to the forum but can't see any buttons that allow me to post questions. How do I do that?
2) I would like to be able to enter SQL queries that would run against my library. Is there any way to do that?
For example, I have a library called 'Tiffany Lamp Flowers' that has a field called "Flower Type" and that field can contain duplicate entries. I want to return only the DISTINCT values when running a sort. So, in essence, I want to run the following SQL query:
SELECT DISTINCT "Flower Type" FROM "Tiffany Lamp Flowers"
To get only the unique Flower values entered. I can setup the SORT to show the existing records in sorted order but I can't ask for sorted DISTINCT records. I think that would be a useful addition to the SORT and/or FILTER dialog(s).
A more useful option would be to provide some type of SQL entry capability so users can run their own queries when needed.
Could a query be run using a Javascript program? If so, how would that be done. I looked at your examples but didn't see anything giving an outline for a script that could run an SQL query. If this is possible, could you please provide a short example for me to follow?
Maybe I could do this with the reporting system but I generally run Memento on my Android phone and I don't believe there's a reporting option. If I'mjust missing it, could you please let me know how I can do this on Android? And how this would be done using Memento on Win10.
Appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks,
Chris Lyons
