Add a new visibility option for every field type to improve search efficiency:
Suggestion:
Editing library ‣ "edit field" interface ‣ Advanced parameters ‣ Display options ‣ Add a new option:
"Field visibility in advanced search ⌵ "
Option 1: Field appears in advanced search
Option 2: Field does not appear in advanced search
default: field appears in advanced search
(this also removes it from other "search" methods such as "group by.")
Reason for this suggestion:
In a library with many fields, the advanced search field list can get quite crowded. This can be true even if the library is well-organized into pages and subheaders. Many of my libraries have default notes which only say one thing (a sort of guide and instruction, usually), so including such fields in any sort of advanced search option is generally crowded - and to new users, confusing. To get around the problem of "confusion" I have the name of such fields include a gear unicode symbol so I can easily ignore them in the advanced search, but it would be nice to simply remove the two dozen or so such fields that I happen to have from the advanced search list to reduce scrolling and improve efficiency of use.
