This may solve 2 needs:
First you dont have to write and correct similar code all over again only because you need it in different triggers or scripts.
Second: Neither with starting a trigger nor within a running script, you have an user influence on the script depending on results of data proving. By calling a script with parameter from a trigger or another script, the parameter input would give you a lot of further possibilities.
