The current Boolean field type provides a convenient on/off check box, but there are many cases where a third state is needed, such as if you have an item but also want to show it is damaged, or the status is "Maybe" instead of simply yes or no.

The display of a three-state field would be easily shown as a shaded checked box for the "Maybe" state, or possibly a dash or ? instead of the current check mark.
