Enable more compact table view
Table view, especially on small devices, is severely hampered by poor use of screen space. There are many databases where scrolling through a list of records is necessary. List view could be greatly improved as follows. Note that all of these should be optional, either globally or at the field level, as applicable.
1) Respect font choice in table view. (I see this as a bug and have submitted it separately.)
2) Minimize line spacing. About three times as many lines could fit on the screen: triple spacing just isn't necessary. (global option)
3) Minimize height of heading and (if possible) the title bar. This is especially important in landscape mode. (global option)
4) Offer a format option for dates. Seeing the month name spelled out is often unneeded and a waste of space. (field option)
5) Minimize the within-column margins. As it stands, these use far too much of the available horizontal space. (global or field option)
6) Allow field values that exceed the column width to be truncated rather than wrapped. Apply this to headings (column names) also, or else provide a renaming capability. (field option)
7) Enable finer control of column widths.
8) Minimize the width of the row number column. (global option)
